HATS Off to the Basin

There was a lot of needed moisture to open the day Saturday at the annual charity riding event outside of Greybull where a large amount of money has been raised to help people in financial need. We were honored to be invited by Rick Smith – rodeo coach at Central Wyoming College, Team Wyoming bronc rider Chet Johnson and actor Wilford Brimley who is a longtime friend of Wyoming:

HATS .mp4 Chet Johnson based out of Sheridan, WY was scored at 85 points for his first round ride and collected $1,500 on the day. He was up the next day at a pro event near Edmonton, AB, Canada. The concert/auction event that will be staged in late July features the talented ‘Riders in the Sky’ performing at no cost to the Hands Across the Saddle organization. Thus far the group has given aid to more than 175 individuals and families in communities across the Big Horn Basin.

Kanin Dusts the Field

Powell’s Kanin Asay had a magnificent winter and is off to a big summer by winning an event he shares with best friend Dusty Tuckness in Cody. Asay was the last man out at the Dusty Tuckness & Kanin Asay Classic Saturday night. He’d drawn a tough bull from the Mo Betta string owned by Nikki and Maury Tate who put on the Cody Nite Rodeo. It was a raucous rumble:

Kanin 6-12.mp4 Asay was awarded 91 points to win the event. He came into the weekend #2 in the world standings.
